WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER that "B.C."   was there when the second tower collapsed and was trapped in the great cloud of cement dust seen by all the world. (See adjacent photo)  He ran for his life and ducked behind a vechical. He threw his back pack to the ground and managed to get his mask on to breath air.

He said it was pitch dark and terrifying. Fortunately, he heard the voices of the rest the men of his team. They all survived. "B.C." remained on duty until 3:00 a.m. of the 12th. (9/12/2001). He finally got home about 5-6 a.m. It took at least 45 minutes to rid his nostrils and sinuses of the Tower dust.

Lil Bayard (Boomer) had been to school at 28th Street in Manhattan that same day. (9/11/2001)  They were there when the first plane hit. Debbie immediatley took Boomer out of school. She got a taxi.  She discribed seeing the towers fall. Boomer didn't understand  what  happened. The taxi went over the 59th Street Bridge. They were dropped off at the Bayside Firehouse where their car was parked. They returned home to Fresh Meadows and called the family after trying to find out about "B.C."

Len Carmiencke was updown at Caxton fearing for all the people with whom he had worked with at Cantor-Fitzgerald on the 105th floor. He faced the trauma of knowing so many of them  personally. He walked across the 59th Street Bridge. He and another worker caught a bus to Jamaica and then a train to Ronkonkoma.

We have shipped many out copies of A HAWKINS GENEALOGICAL SUPPLEMENT, VOLUME II to libraries and individuals. We had hoped that members of our family would have obtained copies. The book is the result of 11 years of hard work. The book contains both male and female lineages. What Sue and Col  put together was the unpublished manuscript by Ralph Clymer Hawkins, for the Joseph Lineage and the 1966 Supplement to which was added all submissions through the Summer of 2001. The end result is a 780 page book mailed out from the publisher near the beginning of September, 2001. We have a good supply of the books in our Garage. Family members or others may E-mail us for more information.
