Bayard's occupation: Priest at Bohemia, NY. (Retired). He resides at Bohemia, NY 11716-2108, in Jul 1998, 1145 Walnut Ave. He studied art in High School. Graduated in June 1951. He worked for the Doubleday Company and attended the Art Career School in The Flatiron Building's Penthouse,in Manhattan, New York. He went to work for The U.S. Vitamin Corporation in 1952, working in their Art Department making layouts for labels for bottles. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in April of 1953. He served for two years. During that time he became trained as an Information and Education NCO, attending I. & E. School at Fort Slocum, New York. He also trained as an S-2 at the Battalion level. He was sent to Fort Dix, NJ. for release, and while there painted a 40 foot oil painting depicting the evolution of the army uniform from the Revolutionary War thru The Korean War. He was honorably discharged in March of 1953. He drove taxi cabs in Baldwin and also drove a truck for the Brass Rail Restaurant at Jones Beach. He later was he Field 2 Concession Manager at Jones Beach State Park, 1957 through 1960. He started College at Hofstra in the Fall of 1953. He Graduated from Hofstra in June of 1959. He then went to Philadelphia where he attended The Philadelphia Divinity School, graduating as President of his class May 1962, and receiving the award for "Voice."

He and his wife Susan moved to Baltimore, MD., where "Col" became a curate at Grace and St. Peter's Episcopal Church at Park and Monument Streets. It was there that Susan and Col's first son, "B.C." was born 7 Jul 1963, in Memorial Hospital. Col served as Parochial Missioner to the Chinese community of Baltimore

After two years "Fr. Col," as parishioners came to call him, became the Rector of St. James Episcopal Church, Westernport, MD., 1964-1966. While serving St. James, Sue and Col had their second son. "Len" was born 16 July 1965, Cumberland, MD. Col served as Rector there from March of 1964 to November 1966. It was during this Rectorship that St. James through a $10,000 donation installed new pews and furnishing along with a new epoxy flooring.

His best friend, The Rev. Ronald Evans Joseph, encouraged him to interview for a position in the Diocese of Pennsylvania. Col accepted the appointment to be Priest-in-Charge of Christ Church, Franklinville, Philadelphia and Vicar of St. Ambrose, Kensington. St. Ambrose had been reduced to very few parishioners and although a beautiful structure, it would not have been feasible to maintain the physical plants because of great maintenance needs. So the two congregations were merged under Fr. Col's guidance. The congregation became Christ Church and St.Ambrose's Episcopal Church, 6th and Venago Streets, Franklinville, Philadelphia, PA. During that ministry the Carmienckes experienced one of the worst blizzards to hit the northeast. Col remembered walking over almost three feet of snow from Christ Church to check on St. Ambrose almost two miles away. That storm happened on Christmas Eve 1967.

"Col" was called to be Rector of St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, Bellerose Village, Nassau County, L.I., New York in 1968. The family arrived in Bellerose 15 November 1968 in time to help the congregation celebrate its fortieth Anniversary. The Rt. Rev. Jonathan Goodhue Sherman, bishop of the Diocese Long Island, had been the Rector many years before, when Col was a youngster during WWII, and when Col sang in the children's choir. It was there that "B.C." and Len Carmiencke essentially grew up and attended Floral Park Memorial High School. Col was Rector for eleven years through 1979. Sue was very active in all aspects of the parish's life, contributing to Col's ministry. It was during these years that Sue returned to the work force, working for Macy's in Hempstead. Col attended St. John's University, where he got his second Master's Degree, a MSed. He was forced to resign because of a deep seeded misunderstanding of his original agreement in accepting the call to be Rector. He agreed to an annual cost of living, which was hidden from the Vestry by the original Senior and Junior Wardens. It was determined by Bishop Witcher in 1979 that it was wiser to resolve the pastoral relationship.

Col, Sue and the boys spent the next nine and half month's in Merrick, New York, where Col Served as Interim Rector of the Church of The Redeemer, Merrick, New York. The time was disruptive of the boys high school years but the family was treated with the greatest of love and affection by the members of the Church of the Redeemer. The Family lived there in the Rectory from 1 January 1980 to 15 November, when Col was called and appointed Vicar of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Bohemia, New York.

The Carmienckes moved into the Vicarage at 1145 Walnut Avenue, Bohemia, New York, 15 November, 1980. The boys went to Connetquot High School. During the 1980's Sue went to work at the Connetquot Library, in Bohemia and subseqentualy went and earned a second Master's Degree in Library Science from Long Island University. She worked at one point part time for three different libraries eventually working only for the Sachem Public library, Holbrook, New York.

Col and Sue bought the Vicarage frm the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island in 1997 after living there rent free from Col's retirement in 1995.
